AI Agent as a BI Analyst
The dashboard won't get prettier. It will cease to exist.
Let me explain what I mean by that.
For years, the workflow was the same: raw data comes in, someone formats it, the dashboard gets ready, and the executive looks at the number in the Monday meeting.
The bottleneck was never the data. It was the path between the data and the decision.
AI agents are breaking that path, but in a way that most people still don't quite see.
The dashboard doesn't disappear because it became useless. It disappears because it turns into an answer.
"Which channel had the best CAC last quarter?" stops being a query someone has to prepare in advance. It becomes a question the agent answers on the spot, with consolidated data, relevant context and, if needed, a dashboard generated right there.
The BI analyst stops being the one who extracts, formats and presents. They become the one who defines which questions the system needs to be able to answer, how to interpret the answers and where human judgment is irreplaceable.
That's leveling up, not being replaced.
The extraction and formatting layer goes to the machine. The interpretation, context and strategy layer stays with the human.
Companies that understand this separation will have more valuable analysts and faster decisions.
Those that don't will keep waiting for the dashboard to be ready next week.
Do you already use agents for data queries in your operation? Tell me in the comments how this transition is going for you, or what's still blocking this shift.
